The critical uncertainty is not whether VCF 9.1 is technically superior; it is whether the financial burden of that superiority, compounded over multiple renewal cycles, creates a market large enough to sustain the R&D investment required to keep it superior. The answer will depend on whether Broadcom can maintain its semiconductor revenue growth independently — the Tomahawk roadmap and 5G/Wi‑Fi 8 platform provide a cushion, but they do not solve the licensing equation.
